Well, 2014 has pretty much ended for the "official" Code Whiskey gig season, and over the course of the winter, the guys are working hard on writing some original material. The idea being, that we want to actually have an album to record and release, finally, after 6 years of himming and hawing around about it.... At an early November session, we pretty much wrote out the ideas for at least two song ideas which we thought were pretty viable. This is Collin and Jesse's first real writing session season, and it's going to be real interesting to see what we come up with together! Jimmy Cat has been finishing out some leftover gig dates with his original act, "Common Nightmare", and will be an active part of the writing and creative process as well, once those dates complete.
We are already getting some 2015 dates booked, most notably so far in Indiana and Washington, PA. Hopefully, once gig season rolls around again, we'll have some excited crowds at these new venues who will enjoy the unique brand of rock CW brings! We pride ourselves on being the band that plays great songs you won't find other bands already doing, and this is a position that's served us well since our 2008 genesis and in no danger of changing any time soon. Of course, we will still always have those standbys that really get the crowds going, but when you hear a band play covers, you don't really want to hear the same things you'd find on any jukebox...you want a reason to say "Wow, these guys are different!".
We will be looking at a couple "one off" gig dates over the course of the winter because, as every musician knows, being offstage for extended periods makes ya' go nuts with anticipation, and we have to keep ourselves properly grounded in what's made this band a Pittsburgh mainstay for 6 years now....live performances. So, keep your eyes and ears peeled for last-minute gig announcements, and once March 2015 rolls around, expect to see a ton of upcoming dates for the spring and summer!
Side Note: The May 1st gig at the Brown Hotel in Indiana PA is going to serve as my "Birthday" gig, since my birthday falls the day before....Hope to see a bunch of die-hard rockers out that night, and we promise ya' a night to remember...that is, if you CAN remember it, after all the shots!!!!
Thank you all once again for your support, and we'll be seeing ya' out on the road!
